KALISPELL, Mont. – Montana Digital, the fiber broadband provider operating under the MtnMax brand, has been acquired by Vero Fiber, a multi-state fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) provider. The deal, announced Monday, brings new investment into Flathead County’s fiber network and could lead to expanded high-speed internet access for both residents and businesses in the region.
Montana Digital, which provides fiber internet to residential and commercial customers in Kalispell, Columbia Falls, Whitefish, and Bigfork, has built over 261 miles of fiber infrastructure and serves more than 1,500 customers. The company will continue operating under the MtnMax brand. Vero Fiber, based in Boulder, Colorado, says the acquisition is part of a broader effort to scale its operations while maintaining a strong local presence.
“We are thrilled to welcome Montana Digital to the Vero family,” said Sunita Krishna, CEO of Vero Broadband. “Montana Digital has built an impressive fiber broadband business, and we are excited to build upon its success.”
Chris Galloway, CEO of Montana Digital, called the move a step toward increasing access to reliable, high-speed internet in the region. “Joining forces with Vero Fiber allows us to accelerate our mission of delivering high-quality internet to more communities in Montana,” Galloway said.
While Vero has not yet announced specific plans for expansion beyond Montana Digital’s current footprint, the company says it is exploring further broadband growth opportunities in adjacent markets. The acquisition also enables Vero to integrate Montana Digital’s fiber network into its wholesale and enterprise services division, which supplies connectivity to businesses, government entities, schools, and wireless carriers.
With demand for fiber internet growing in rural Montana, Vero’s entry into the state could signal broader infrastructure investments down the line. For now, residents and businesses in Flathead County can expect service continuity under the MtnMax brand, with the potential for future network enhancements under Vero’s ownership.
