HELENA, MT – Kaleb Elijah Fleck, a 20-year-old from Kalispell, was sentenced to 50 years in the Montana State Prison for the deliberate homicide of a homeless man, Scott Bryan, in June 2023. Ten years of Fleck’s sentence were suspended. The announcement was made today by Attorney General Austin Knudsen.

Fleck pleaded guilty in February to one felony count of deliberate homicide after severely beating Bryan and leaving him outside a Kalispell gas station. Eyewitnesses provided key evidence in the case, including a video showing Fleck discussing the assault with a motionless Bryan in the background.

Fleck’s sentencing also includes an order to pay restitution and a requirement to register as a violent offender when he is eventually released from prison. This case was brought by prosecutors Caitlin Creighton and Meghann Paddock and involved collaboration between the Kalispell Police Department and Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.
