The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has announced the cancellation of the public meeting scheduled for April 7, 2025, regarding the Opencut mining operations at the Creston Maintenance site near Bigfork. The meeting was initially planned to take place at the Bigfork Performing Arts Center, featuring a presentation about the Opencut permitting process and a question-and-answer session.
Prime Cut Construction, LLC, the applicant for the permit, formally withdrew its application on April 4, leading to the cancellation. DEQ is currently notifying all relevant parties about the withdrawal of the permit application and the subsequent cancellation of the meeting. The agency has confirmed that the meeting will not be rescheduled and is no longer accepting public comments, as there is no active application for the site.
