MISSOULA — Venture Medical, LLC, a Missoula-based wound care solutions company, announced on June 11 its acquisition of key assets from ProgenaCare Global, LLC, a biotechnology firm specializing in keratin-based wound healing technologies. The deal positions the decade-old Montana company as a growing force in the national wound care market.

The acquisition centers on ProgenaCare’s proprietary keratin platform, including ProgenaMatrix®—the first and only keratin matrix cleared by the FDA for wound management. Venture Medical also secured contractual rights to distribute revyve™, an advanced antimicrobial hydrogel.

The deal brings cutting-edge medical technology under local ownership, representing the kind of high-tech business growth that state economic development officials have been working to cultivate.

As part of the acquisition, Howard Walthall, former CEO of ProgenaCare, has joined Venture Medical as Senior Vice President of Product Development, bringing specialized biotechnology expertise to the company.

“ProgenaCare has long stood for integrity, science, and healing — all values that align seamlessly with Venture Medical,” said John Schroeder, CEO of Venture Medical. “With Howard Walthall on board and these technologies in our portfolio, we’re positioned to elevate the standard of care and improve patient outcomes in ways that are both clinically meaningful and beneficial to the industry as a whole.”

The acquisition enhances Venture Medical’s advanced therapy portfolio with regenerative technologies designed to accelerate healing for patients with chronic and hard-to-heal wounds. The company can now offer both acquired products through its existing national distribution network.

Bert Jones, Chairman of the Board of ProgenaCare Global, expressed confidence in the partnership: “Venture Medical is at the forefront of patient-centered innovation. Between their comprehensive product formulary and proprietary Venture OneView platform, they are positioned to become a nationwide leader in the wound care space.”

Strategic Expansion

Venture Medical has operated for a decade in wound care innovation, expanding from its Missoula headquarters to build a national presence. The company serves as both a commercial partner and software services provider for manufacturers and end users of biologics, advanced diagnostics, durable medical equipment, and capital goods.

The acquisition of ProgenaCare’s assets—which focused on developing keratin-based regenerative therapies using biocompatible and biologically active materials—represents Venture Medical’s continued expansion strategy. ProgenaCare had developed these FDA-cleared technologies as a specialized biotechnology firm before the acquisition.

The acquisition gives Venture Medical immediate access to breakthrough technologies that typically take years to develop internally, potentially accelerating the Missoula company’s growth trajectory in the competitive wound care market.
