HAMILTON — Montanans for Life concluded their annual “Celebrate Life MT” fundraiser Saturday, calling the event a “resounding success” in a follow-up email to supporters. The Hamilton-based pro-life organization’s rapid growth was on full display as approximately 140 attendees plus volunteers and Knights of Columbus catering staff packed the venue, with supporters traveling from as far as Kalispell and Helena to attend.
According to organization chair Robin Sertell, turnout was “many times more than last year,” with supporters traveling from as far as Kalispell and Helena to attend.
“It was real cozy,” Sertell said, noting the organization will need to find a larger venue for next year’s event.
Notable Attendees and Community Support
The fundraiser drew representatives from across Montana’s pro-life community, including Rep. Kathy Love (HD-86), James Compton from Flathead Pro-Life, and teams from Pro-Life Montana, Deborah’s Arising, S.M.A.R.T. Women’s Healthcare, and Students for Life at the University of Montana Missoula.
Four moments during the evening generated particular enthusiasm from the crowd, according to Sertell. The audience erupted in applause when asked if they enjoyed having numerous children present at the pro-life event. Senator Theresa Manzella, described as “a dear friend” of the organization, received a warm reception when introduced and spoke about collaborative pro-life legislation from the recent session, including HB 388 (protecting pregnancy centers), HB 723 (born-alive infant reporting requirements), and HB 476 (grant funds for Safe Haven Baby Boxes).

The event particularly moved organizers when they received a $5 donation check. Sertell noted how the modest contribution reminded them of the widow’s mite (a small coin) from Luke 21:1-4, emphasizing that true generosity comes from the heart regardless of the amount given.
An impromptu appearance by Lewis Icopini, incoming president of Students for Life at UM Missoula, also energized attendees as Sertell announced the organization’s developing internship lobbying program.
The evening concluded with international recording artist Linda Lanier performing “The Third Voice,” a song about a mother considering abortion and hearing her unborn child’s voice, which “left us with tears in our eyes,” Sertell said.

Beyond the live speakers, the organization provided links to recorded messages from Senator Tim Sheehy and Senator Steve Daines for supporters who missed the main event.
Future Plans and Services
The fundraising proceeds will support the organization’s growing pregnancy center services, including securing a larger space than their current 11’x11′ room at The Neely Center in Victor, which they use at no cost. The funds will also help establish a dedicated phone line for crisis situations, allowing mothers to call or text for support.
For supporters who missed the opportunity during the event, Montanans for Life continues to offer “I’m a Montanan for Life” t-shirts and hoodies in various colors and sizes for sale in their merch store.
The organization announced upcoming dates for supporters, including a Trauma Informed Training session with Denisha Workizer on September 13 and a Holiday Dessert Auction on December 4.
With the success of this year’s fundraiser, Montanans for Life is positioned to expand their pregnancy center services and strengthen their advocacy efforts throughout the Bitterroot Valley. As Sertell noted about next year’s event, “We’ll need to find a bigger space” – a testament to the growing support for their mission in the community.
