MISSOULA — Eastbound travelers on Interstate 90 should expect delays and reduced speeds Thursday as crews conduct patching work between Missoula and the Bonner interchange.

The Montana Department of Transportation will perform maintenance on eastbound I-90 lanes between mile markers 108 and 109, weather and other factors permitting, according to the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office.

Motorists should anticipate slower traffic through the work zone and watch for equipment on the roadway during the repairs.

The patching work represents ongoing efforts to maintain Montana’s primary east-west transportation corridor, which carries thousands of vehicles daily through the Missoula area.

“Travelers should expect reduced speeds through the work zone,” the Sheriff’s Office warned in a Tuesday social media post. “Watch for equipment on the roadway.”

Officials recommend checking 511mt.net before traveling for current road conditions and construction updates. The website provides real-time information about highway conditions, closures and construction projects across Montana.

The work zone spans approximately one mile of eastbound Interstate 90, affecting traffic heading toward Bonner and points east. Westbound lanes are not expected to be impacted by the maintenance activity.

Drivers are reminded to slow down in work zones and maintain safe following distances when approaching construction areas.
