Missoula County
Early Morning Incidents
Missoula Police Department (MPD) reported a significant number of driving under the influence (DUI) incidents in the early hours, with multiple arrests made in both the Heart of Missoula and Lower Rattlesnake neighborhoods. Additionally, two wildland fires were urgently addressed by the MPD in the Franklin to the Fort and Captain John Mullan areas, alongside an illegal burn in Captain John Mullan.
Morning Trends
The morning saw various instances of public assistance and minor accidents across Missoula. Notably, the Westside neighborhood required several medical transfers and welfare checks. Another focus was support for outside agencies, particularly concentrated in the Northside and Westside regions. A persistence of shoplifting and theft also marked the morning, predominantly in the Captain John Mullan and Westside neighborhoods.
Afternoon Challenges
Afternoon activities largely included handling multiple incidents of accidents with injuries in the Northside and Rose Park areas, reflecting a concerning trend regarding traffic safety. Additionally, structure fires required significant attention in the Farviews / Pattee Canyon neighborhoods. Other calls included disputes and the need for civil services across multiple sectors, emphasizing the variety of incidents the MPD and Missoula County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deal with daily.
Evening and Late Night
As night fell, the frequency of DUIs surged again, particularly in the Grant Creek area, where six such incidents were reported. Aside from traffic-related issues, there was an increase in distress calls, including a series of accidents involving pedestrians or cyclists in the Southgate Triangle. The evening also recorded cases of suspicious activities spreading across several districts, including the Westside and River Road neighborhoods as malicious incidents persisted into the late night.
