BOZEMAN, Mont. – Governor Greg Gianforte and Montana State University (MSU) have jointly announced the successful completion of a fundraising campaign which garnered $22.5 million in private donations for the construction of an on-campus facility specifically for Gallatin College MSU. The funding achievement was made possible through significant contributions from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation, and Lone Mountain Land Company, among others.

In 2023, following the passage of House Bill 5, the Montana Legislature allocated $23.5 million towards this initiative, requiring MSU to source the remaining funds privately for the total $46 million project cost. The announcement marks a significant milestone for Gallatin College, which has been the fastest-growing college within the university, achieving record enrollment numbers yet lacking a dedicated facility — a rarity among two-year colleges in the state.

“This monumental announcement highlights a commitment not only to education but also to the future economic landscape of Montana,” Governor Gianforte remarked during the announcement. MSU President Waded Cruzado echoed his sentiments, noting Gallatin College’s pivotal role in matching students with successful careers within the local industries.

Jon Bennion, representing the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation, emphasized the strategic importance of the new facility for current and future educational delivery, stating, “This new facility will serve as a cornerstone for providing top-tier education and training essential for today’s and tomorrow’s workforce.” Matthew Kidd from Lone Mountain Land Co. also highlighted the critical role of collaboration in fostering leadership and innovation within Montana’s growing industries.

The new facility is anticipated to bolster the state’s educational infrastructure significantly and amplify its workforce readiness, aligning with its economic development goals.
