GREAT FALLS – A Mexican man who illegally entered the United States multiple times was sentenced Monday to time served and ordered to be turned over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for removal.
Jose Luz Rojas-Flores, 35, pleaded guilty in May to illegal reentry, according to a press release from U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme’s office.
Chief U.S. District Judge Brian Morris sentenced Rojas-Flores to 73 days in prison, which he had already served while awaiting trial.
Court documents show Rojas-Flores was first removed from the United States in April 2012. He was removed again in November 2013 after serving a 30-day sentence for illegal entry, and once more in April 2015 after serving a 60-day sentence for illegal entry.
Despite the multiple deportations, Rojas-Flores admitted he crossed back into the United States in January 2020 near El Paso, Texas.
His latest apprehension came during a traffic stop in Havre on April 26, 2025, when the Havre Police Department requested assistance with five individuals who did not speak English and presented Mexican identification documents.
Rojas-Flores presented a Mexican voter identification card but had no documents permitting him to enter or remain in the United States, according to court documents.
The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and investigated by the U.S. Border Patrol and Havre Police Department.
The prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
