HELENA, Mont. – Assembling some of the finest young poetic talents, the 2025 Montana Poetry Out Loud State Finals took place on March 8 at Grandstreet Theatre in Helena. Senior Jake Dunker from Whitefish High School claimed the state champion title after delivering compelling recitations. Jake performed ‘NUMBERS’ by Mary Cornish and ‘Ozymandias’ by Percy Bysshe Shelley, culminating with ‘Listening in Deep Space’ by Diane Thiel in the championship round.
Jake is well-regarded as an engaged member of his community, actively participating in clubs and initiatives, including the National Honor Society and the North Valley Food Bank. His diverse interests also span academic competitions and outdoor activities like skiing and hiking.
