BUTTE, MT — U.S. Senator Steve Daines and Governor Greg Gianforte praised GE Aerospace for its $2 million investment in modernizing its joint venture facility in Butte, Montana. The investment aims to enhance manufacturing capacity for commercial and military aircraft engines, reinforcing Montana’s role in aerospace innovation and national security.
Daines credited Montana’s pro-business policies for attracting continued investment, stating, “Thanks to Gov. Gianforte, Montana is a great place to live, work, and grow a business. Today’s announcement by GE Aerospace reaffirms that, ensuring well-paying jobs and bolstering our national security.”
Gianforte echoed the sentiment, saying, “I appreciate the continued investment from GE Aerospace to boost American manufacturing, jobs, and products. In Montana, we’ll continue to unleash innovation and support job creators and manufacturers that fuel our economy and strengthen our workforce.”
Montana Precision Products (MPP), a joint venture between GE Aerospace and SeaCast, has been a cornerstone of Butte’s aerospace sector. The nearly 100,000-square-foot facility specializes in producing tube and duct assemblies and small structural castings for aerospace and commercial applications.
A Pattern of Growth
This latest investment follows a major expansion in 2022, when MPP added 56,000 square feet to increase manufacturing capacity and introduce a new flex joints product line—specialized components that absorb movements from thermal expansion and vibrations in aircraft engines. That expansion also resulted in a 15% workforce increase, adding over 30 new jobs.
The new $2 million investment will modernize the facility’s layout to improve workflow and productivity, optimizing the production of engine components for narrowbody and widebody aircraft, as well as military marine engines.
Mike Forrelli, Site Leader for GE Aerospace’s Butte facility, emphasized the significance of the investment: “This is a great day for our site, Butte, and the future of U.S. manufacturing. With this investment, we will continue to play a critical role in producing engine parts that are needed more than ever.”
GE Aerospace’s investment in Butte is part of a larger $1 billion initiative to strengthen U.S. manufacturing and supply chains, integrating innovative new parts and materials to shape the future of flight.
