The Montana Land Board approved a new logging project in Lincoln County, unanimously endorsed by the board. This initiative aims to merge sustainable forestry practices with educational funding, representing a holistic approach to resource management.

Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen highlighted the twofold benefits of the project, stating, “These timber sales not only enhance our forestry health but are also imperative for funding our educational initiatives.”

State Senator Mike Cuffe, a retired mill manager and the representative for Lincoln County, applauded the board’s resolution, emphasizing its dual benefit. “This action by the Land Board greatly supports both our natural environment and our schools,” Cuffe shared. “Go Loggers!”

This endorsement not only strives to mitigate wildfire risks and encourage forest regeneration but also ensures a continuous funding avenue for state education, depicting the board’s proactive approach in melding environmental responsibility with educational progress.

In March, Land Board officials approved $4.5 million in oil and gas lease projects in Blaine, Richland, Roosevelt, and Toole counties.
